Electric Zoo Sells Out Its First Ever Festival in China (Gallery)

After another massive sell-out year at Electric Zoo’s spiritual home of Randall’s Island in New York City last Labor Day weekend, we took our wildness to the other side of the world. Electric Zoo welcomed the beautiful animals of China into our wild, global family last weekend at Countdown Shanghai, and the occasion will go down in dance music history.

Over two completely sold out days at Shanghai’s EXPO park, Electric Zoo: Countdown Shanghai brought the biggest names in dance music to the sprawling Chinese metropolis. Dada Life, Sander van Doorn and Oshi joined the hottest new talent coming out of Asia in a harmonious celebration of pure wildness.

Even more than the world’s best DJs, even more than the biggest, baddest, production in the world, even more than an army of fantastically bedecked animalistic performers, the absolute wildest part of the whole festival was the Shanghai crowd and how bats**t crazy they went. It’s official: China knows how to party…like…animals!

“Electric Zoo: Countdown Shanghai was absolutely amazing,” says Sander van Doorn. “The crowd was so energetic. they didn’t stop dancing during my whole set! I haven’t experienced something like this before in China.”

Shanghai is officially the fourth location to join the Zoo after Tokyo, Mexico City, and of course, New York City. Electric Zoo is truly a worldwide family, and it’s getting bigger with every beat. We’re can’t wait to head back to China next year, set these wild animals loose, and build our pride.
